UOG TOP PICK - Montane's Minimus Jacket - Lightweight all rounder - We've singled out Montane's Minimus Jacket as one of our recommendations because its a great example of a lightweight waterproof jacket. The fabric performs very well, it has a well designed hood and all the right features.
A true lightweight oficianado's waterproof shell. Superior protection from the Pertex Shield+ fabric, which has a 20,000mm waterproof rating and a very high 25,000 breathability rating. You will stay comfortable and dry while out on the trails.
Weighing in at 190g the Minimus is an ultra lightweight rain shell from the future. The fabric, PERTEX Shield +, delivers exceptional breathability levels and performance characteristics which are perfect for use with a lightweight pack during showery conditions or as an emergency rain shell. With a pack size of a large apple it will hardly be noticed when not in use.

Montane's Minimus Jacket is extremely lightweight yet delivers excellent performance characteristics given the waterproof rating and breathability figures of the Pertex Shield+ fabric. Its a 2.5 layer fabric so it won't be quite as durable as heavier three layer alternatives, but this jacket is all about providing good protection at a minimum weight.
Feature-wise there are no hand pockets (if you want them - see the Minimus Mountain Jacket) but there is a small chest pocket and a great hood that can be adjusted to move with you. There's a small peak with a wired edge.
A great jacket for mountain marathons, not so much for backpacking where you'll have a heavy pack rubbing the garment.
