Marmot's Crux jacket uses a durable stretch fabric to offer full waterproof protection and excellent breathable performance in a lightweight package.
An ultra lightweight technical shell, this jacket is equipped to handle bare-bones alpine ascents. Built with a waterproof, breathable NanoPro MemBrain fabric, a fully seam-sealed construction and zonal reinforcements, the Crux’s stretch and free-moving underarm design have almost no restriction on movement. Extras include an attached, adjustable hood with a laminate brim and strategically placed pack-compatible pockets with water-resistant zippers.
Marmot's Crux Jacket is a good balance of lightweight design and durable construction. The Marmot NanoPro membrane technology provides a really good level of rain protection & breathability.
Marmot have kept the weight down by only having essential features, such as double pockets & elasticated wrists. You can get the hood close to your head with two adjustable drawcords at the chin and with the velcro adjustment on the rear you can adjust the volume of the hood even further, allowing you to hunker down when the weather gets rough.
The pockets are set a bit higher up the jacket to allow for a rucksack hip belt or a harness. The reinforced patches on the shoulders are there for a reason too, they let you use this jacket with a heavy rucksack and make sure that it won't fall apart after a week or so.
This is an ideal jacket for long distance hikers looking to get some lighter gear.
