Montane's clever Primino baselayers combine merino and polyester with the addition of 25% synthetic PrimaLoft insulation yarns. The result is a set of very lightweight base garments that insulate more than their weight would suggest. They have an extremely soft feel, very much akin to wool rather than any synthetic baselayer material.
The finish, as always is excellent from Montane, with a tiny stripe detail that could well be the fibre mix, and flatlocked seams throughout.
The Primino comes in two choices, the 140g fabric weight and the 220g fabric weight. The 140 is described as working best in warm to cool environments and the 220 in cool to freezing environments. Both are very light despite being marketed as year round baselayers which is testament to the performance of the fibres used.
