The Ghost Shadow takes the Mountain Hardwear Ghost range to the next level with huge amounts of recycled content going in to make a lightweight synthetic jacket with the style and warmth you'd expect.
Mountain Hardwear says:
A hoody is supposed to keep you warm. (Surprise—this one does!) But what about one that won't heat up the atmosphere? We think this flying space rock is pretty awesome, and because we want to keep Earth awesome, we made a jacket that uses trash instead of making more. With recycled materials from its synthetic insulation to the face fabric and liner, this hoody brings the heat where it's supposed to.
Mountain Hardwear's Womens Shadow Insulated Hoody uses a combination of 100% recycled 10D outer fabric for the classic 'Ghost' look and 70% recycled content in the Primaloft Silver Eco synthetic insulation. This ensures that the jacket stays as light weight as possible while also having a hugely positive impact in terms of the environment. As if this wasn't enough they have also used recycled trims in the form of the zipper, cord, toggle and snaps which is absolutely brilliant to see.
The use of Primaloft Silver Eco is a good sign that this jacket will be warm. As with the rest of the Ghost range, if you are after big warm, durable clothing then look elsewhere. This fits in the range with a focus on lightweight, small packsize and a good warmth to weight ratio. Despite the 10D outer seeming thin and fragile I've never had a single snag, tear or close call with it. The benefit of this synthetic Shadow version over the original down jackets is the ability to retain warmth when wet and cope with changeable conditions more effectively.
