Monatne says: Multi activity, lightweight stretch softshell pants.
Designed with fast mountain walking and backpacking in mind, the Women’s Alpine Trek Pants use GRANITE STRETCH Lite throughout; a lightweight nylon face fabric with stretch which offers excellent dual abrasion and wind resistance. Technical features such as a variety of pocket options and tough CORDURA® instep reinforcements make these pants perfect for use year round in all but the worst conditions.

Having tested a pair of men's Alpine Trek pants during a week of backpacking in Scotland I rated them enough to buy another pair in the opposite colour when I got back. For me they make the perfect trekking pant for most UK conditions.
They have all the features I wanted but none of the ones I didn't. The features I look for are a degree of windproofing and the ability to shed a light shower, no excess baggy leg material to accumulate mud or soak with water, unrestricted movement, zipped pockets and if a slimmer leg then ankle zips to fit over boots when not using walking shoes. The Alpine Trek pants tick all these boxes.
I personally prefer a neat fitting trekking pant with no excess material flapping about at the ankles especially when it's wet and muddy. The Alpine Trek Pants are a narrower style which suits me just fine but with the stretch fabric and articulated knees they are so comfortable and never feel restrictive at all.
There is no reinforcement at the knee, but in my opinion for general backpacking and trekking use you don't need it, and the fabric has seemed very durable given it's light weight. There are however Cordura reinforcements on the inside of the ankle which will extend the life of the pants.
