Warm, stretchy and breathable like you’d expect from the Regulator fleece, but with the added benefits of abrasion and weather resistance for extended versatility in shifting mountain conditions.
In mountains big and small, our TechFace Hoody maintains fleece-like comfort along with extended protection. The stretchy, lightweight double-weave fabric (partially recycled polyester, with elsastane) offers significantly more wind resistance and durability than our traditional R1®, with smoother layering. Its articulated pattern further encourages a full range of mountain mobility.
An alpine-helmet-compatible, adjustable hood with laminated visor provides coverage and visibility through passing squalls. Detailing includes a pair of high, zippered handwarmer pockets (with venting mesh), an internal zippered chest pocket, and our sleek, low-bulk, easy push-up stretch-knit Variable Conditions Cuffs. The adjustable hem snugs via cords routed through the hand pockets, and the DWR (durable water repellent) finish sheds excess moisture.

The R1 TechFace Hoody from Patagonia is a high performance fleece with a soft feel inner and harder, durable outer. The Regulator fleece is soft and comfortable to wear while doing what it should by regulating the heat. The durable face fabric does a good job of shedding light rain and providing some wind resistance. The grid effect is not to everyone's taste in terms of feel and looks but it works really well.
This hoody has two hand warmer pockets and an external chest pocket all with zips. The hood is helmet compatible and has two way adjustability. This is not lightweight piece but the performance, features and packable nature of it make the jacket a great choice for hiking, climbing and a range of other mountain activities.
