Mountain Hardwear's Micro Ratio series of garments uses 650 Fill Power hydrophobic 'Q.Shield' down to create a lightweight flexible midlayer.
Mountain Hardwear says:
Low-profile hooded jacket with an outstanding warmth-to-weight ratio. The Micro Ratio Hooded Down Jacket is fortified with Q.Shield™ DOWN 650-fill insulation, which retains critical loft and warmth even when wet, so you stay balmy without the bulk. Despite its big-jacket warmth, this compressible wonder is designed so efficiently that it packs away into its own pocket.
||||Q.Shield DOWN is a giant leap forward in down performance. Down fibers are infused with a permanent water repellency that helps maintain insulating performance even when exposed to moisture.|
Mountain Hardwear's Micro Ratio Garments are filled with 650 Fill Power hydrophobic 'Q.Shield' down, so they will not achieve the warmth to weight ratios of garments using higher Fill Power down clusters, however they are still highly technical and very lightweight garments. The Micro Ratio garments are ideal mid layer insulation that will comfortably replace a much heavier fleece.
The outer fabric has a nice matt finish rather than the shiny appearance associated with the lightest garments, and as its a higher Denier it will be more durable. Cuffs are lightly elasticated, there's a drawcord hem and two internal open pockets at the hips in addition to the two external hand warmer pockets. The hood is a simple close fitting design which is the most efficient when it comes to insulating your head.
