The Strata Guide Jacket is made using innovative Polartec Alpha, designed to be worn when you are active - so on the move - there are alternative insulation garments that are more suited to wearing around camp - Polartec Alpha is about keeping you vented even though you are also being kept insulated. Its quite a breakthrough, especially for cold weather walking when you need insulation but start sweating hard when you reach a strenuous bit. Weight for weight Polartec Alpha is only about half as warm as Primaloft so the king of insulation keeps its crown - but Alpha has its place.
Filled with 120g insulation compared to the Strata Hoody which has 80g, increases the insulation and offers better protection. The Strata range is very much designed as active warmth and these garments are meant to be used when moving quickly in cold conditions. The jacket is designed as an outer layer in cold and dry conditions but can equally be layered under a shell should conditions dictate.
Apart from the extra insulation, there are a more features which make this the perfect winter outer layer. Adjustable Velcro cuffs, reinforced shoulders and a fully adjustable, helmet compatible hood means you can keep the biting wind out in cold miserable conditions. Ideal for mountaineering, alpine climbing, mountain walking or for any activity where warmth and breathability is paramount.
