Sea to Summit Tents

Roland Tyson (Founder and Head Designer, Sea to Summit) stated that 'when we decided to deconstruct tent design from the roof down, I knew who I wanted to collaborate with - master tent maker Jake Lah (Founder and Head Designer, DAC).

Known in design circles as the architect of modern tents, DAC also produces the best aluminium poles in the world.

Driven by quality and innovation, and both of us being hands-on owner/designers, we scrutinized every aspect of lightweight tents in painstaking detail - we put in all our experience and best design solutions.

Our Tension Ridge design - delivering unprecedented height and space in lightweight tents along with superior venting options - is the most revolutionary part of our collaboration. It also brings to life our unique Hangout Mode, allowing users to tilt their tent back into a semi-open shelter.'

Introducing the Tension Ridge

The patent pending Tension ridge allows us to achieve more usable space, height and climate control in our tents.

Where most tent poles angle down, the Tension Ridge angles up like a dihedral wing to achieve exceptional height and usable space.

The benefits of the Tension Ridge include:

Space:

  • More space above your head to make it easier to get changed or stretch
  • More head and shoulder room when sitting
  • Space for pillows and modern, thicker sleeping mats
  • More space between your shoulders and the sidewall when sleeping

Climate:

  • Tension Ridge allows us to place a full-width vent at the highest point of the tent minimising condensation build-up at the ceiling.
  • Unlike most vent designs, the Apex Vent doesn't require a mesh panel to maintain tension across the fly - meaning significantly better airflow, unrestricted by mesh.
  • Control humidity in wet conditions by opening or closing the Baseline Vent.
  • The presence of Apex and Baseline vents in four opposing directions can generate airflow with breeze from any direction.

Adaptability:

  • Dry set-up and takedown - set the fly up first to keep your inner dry during set-up and takedown.
  • Star gazing - use partial-fly mode on clear nights and easily roll the fly back on when the rain rolls in.
  • Sun/rain shelter - use Hangout Mode to create a group shelter for cooking or card games.

Stand Out from the Crowd

Personalise Your Shelter

Airflow

The tent design has well placed and easily adjustable vents that allow you to increase airflow and reduce condensation. The unique design of the venting system enable effective airflow no matter the direction of the wind outside.

Ground Control System

The combination of unique Ground Control Light pegs, the easy to use guyline system and the adjustable peg out points make these tents quick and easy to adjust no matter what the conditions are like.

Lightbar

The tent pole bag doubles as a lightbar to diffuse light from your head torch. The dedicating clip points on the tent ceiling enable you to attach the pole sack, which is made from light-diffusing material, to provide ambient lighting.

Storage Buckets

In addition to the lightbar, the tents modular storage system provides additional sacks that can be used as storage buckets. Simply clip the tent stuff sacks into the corners of the tent for handy additional storage.
