The Phantom is designed as a pure racer. A slim fit, stripped back features, minimal weight and impressively small pack size. This is everything you need in a waterproof shell for racing and nothing more.
With its lightweight features, all-day protection and peerless packability, the Phantom Pull-On is the ultimate stash-and-forget waterproof shell for stripped back mountain runners.
Our Phantom Pull-On shell uses waterproof two-layer construction, with taped seams and lightweight 7D Pertex Shield 2.5L fabric, for the ultimate in pocket-packable utility. The use of stretch fabric enables a slimmer cut, which helps reduce bulk; and in place of adjustable toggles, the Phantom Pull-on uses a low-volume elasticated hood, as well as half micro elasticated hem and cuffs, enabling it to pack down into a palm-sized storage sleeve. The absence of pockets and a hooded peak also helps keep the weight down; and a lightweight half-length zip helps deliver effective weather protection without excessive weight.
At just 90g, the Phantom Pull-On provides highly specialised mountain running protection in exceptionally packable form, whether you’re carrying a backpack or not.

Rab's Phantom Waterproof Pull-On weighs in at just 94g for the medium size and that's not where the impressive stats end. It has a waterproof rating of 20,000 HH and a breathability rating of 40,000 MVTR. That is more than enough protection from any rain you'll encounter while the breathability rating is very impressive, in order to cope with the conditions. The fabric used is a very lightweight 7D Pertex Shiled 2.5 layer so it's certainly not the most durable. However, this is the kind of waterproof shell with taped seams that is required by trail and mountain races and events. The realty is that it will stay packed away for the vast majority of a race season and only come out when the conditions are terrible.
Practically, the fit is very snug so anymore than a light baselayer underneath and you may need to size up. This is great in terms of cutting down excess fabric that flaps about and catches the wind when running in the mountains. The zip on the front is a decent size and helps when pulling it on, taking it off and venting to dump heat on uphill sections. The hood is small and low volume with an elasticated front, but the peak could be better for keeping rain out or your eyes when it's blowing. The hem and cuffs are part elasticated which is enough and the cuffs have a nice shape to them with longer outers covering more of the back of your hand.
