Having used the Montane Minimus pants for some time now I know how awesome the Minimus range is, the Smock is the lightest garment style and so its the lightest waterproof layer you will come across. The compromise is durability - don't expect it to last for years - and you may want something a bit more robust if you are carrying a heavy rucksack.

Great running smock.

Have had the minimus smock for about 6 weeks now.Live in Scotland, and have been building up my base training on trail runs this winter. Its been raining very heavily for the last 2-3 months, and the Minimus smock has been highly effective at keeping it all at bay. Also very breathable,so much so that i raced a 5 k wearing it(due to horizontal sleet and hailstones) and it didn't sweat me even at racing pace.Delivery from Ultralight was prompt and efficient.

Lightweight protection

I've been totally satisfied with Montane's Minimus smock. For virtually no weight penalty, it keeps me dry in a short to medium showers. I've also used it on a longer Pyrenees trip where I experienced prolonged downpours. There the jacket kept me from getting soaked, but my clothers did get a bit wet. However, in summertime, it's possible to take that risk if you choose to go UL. The jacket has a good fit. Durability has been great, even after using it with a 10kg backpack.
