Marmot's Pre-Cip Eco Pants are an updated classic, packed with useful features and backed by an impressive fabric performance. It uses Marmots own in house waterproof fabric which offers very high breathability and a durable recycled nylon face fabric that will last even longer than before.
Meet the environmentally conscious and high-performing next generation of waterproofing: the lightweight PreCip Eco Pant. The waterproof/breathable, PFC-free Marmot NanoPro™recycled nylon face fabric lasts longer, thanks to the advanced technology of 100% PFC-Free Entrant HSDT microporous coating. Sturdier and more durable and with a patented dry-touch finish, these water-repelling pants will keep you comfortable and protected during planned treks in stormy weather and as a just-in-case layer in your pack for unexpected downpours.
These water-repelling pants also feature fully taped seams to prevent leaks, ankle snaps with tabs to make it easy to pull boots on and off, and bonded storm flaps over the zippers to keep moisture out. Zippered hand pockets and a zippered back pocket provide quick storage while the elastic waist gives you a secure yet comfortable fit.
Marmot's Pre-Cip Pants are now made with a recycled nylon face fabric which is obviously better for the environment, but it also makes it more durable than is was before, while still keeping it's good waterproofing and breathability rating. Feature-wise they are also good, with 35cm length ankle zips, a rear zipped pocket and two front hand pockets all lined with mesh.
The pockets have flaps but I can see there's potential for the front zips to get damp during prolonged rain which could be a weakness in these pants. Having said that most overtrousers don't offer pockets at all - so if that annoys you - then the Pre-Cip pants could be the answer.
The price is pretty good for this level of performance.
