Mountain Hardwear quote's this as there lightest alpine climbing shell with Dry.Q Elite technology, however the Quasar II Jacket weighs in a little lighter with its 15 Denier face fabric compared to the Quasar Lite's 40 Denier face fabric. This is still a highly lightweight and packable jacket for a shell and is definitely lighter compared to the Quasar Insulated Jacket.
The jacket has been designed with only simple features in order to keep the weight to a minimum. A fully adjustable, helmet compatible hood offers excellent range of movement even when you wear a hood and the body and arms of the jacket have been designed in such a way that even if you stretch the arms up, the hem of the body will not lift to ensure protection and coverage at all times.
There are two raised hand pockets which have water resistant zips and sit high in order that they don't interfere with your harness and hip belt along with a full length main zip that has a two-way, water resistant zip for versatility and ease of use when doing different activities. On the inside of the jacket there is 1 large stash pocket and 1 small zip pocket for keys, ID's or other small items. The jacket has a soft fleece lined chin guard which eliminates zipper chafe and feels nicer than most jackets against your skin. Definitely a plus.
