Designed by our MtnHaus research and development team this jacket features everything you need and nothing that you don’t, weighing in at just 97g this is the world’s lightest 3 layer mountain jacket.
Hydroshell Elite Pro fabric is fully waterproof and highly breathable so that you’ll remain comfortable and protected all day long.
Berghaus' Hyper 100 Shell Jacket has a lot of features for such a lightweight jacket and the attention to detail and quality finish on the jacket are what warrant the higher price. You can see this in the cuffs. The cuffs are elasticated, the elastic is on the underside only, with a continuation of the waterproof fabric on the top and even a little stiffened peak to keep it from folding over, this provides the grip needed to keep your sleeves down but also allows the rain to run off your arms instead of soaking into the material that would be present if the elastic went all the way round the cuff. This is a small detail but it's very technical and there for a reason.
There's a small inside pocket suitable for your keys and maybe a couple of gels. This is a great feature on such a lightweight jacket.
The hood fits really well for one without any adjustment. There is elastic down the two vertical sides of the hood, this provides enough grip to keep the whole hood close to your head. There's a small stiffened peak which is comfortable on your forehead and is much nicer than having more bunched up elastic there.
So all-in-all this is an amazing jacket, it's not going to last very long at all if you use it with a heavy pack, but by itself for trail running and other fast & light outdoor activities you can't beat it. The breathability rating is really out of this world at 50,000g/m2/24hrs, no waterproof out there can match this jacket for that at the moment.
