The Extrem 8000 Pro is an extremely waterproof and breathable shell that offers excellent durability. It uses Berghaus' unique Xpanse technology for a unique feature set ideal for mountain use.

Berghaus says:

The Extrem 8000 Pro is the perfect balance of weight, durability and breathability combined with exceptional tailoring. The result is a serious mountain jacket that gives you everything you need, leaving you to work the challenge. Pure performance MtnHaus engineering, the Extrem 8000 Pro is a feature-packed jacket with innovation at its core.

The new XpanseBack system uses unique panelling and design to deliver a 20% increase in freedom of movement and an amplified rear-ventilation. The XpanseHood will revolutionise hood management; a magnetic expansion fold contracts when not needed, solving the issue of excess material when using without a helmet.

The impressive feature set is matched with the most breathable GORE-TEX Pro available to give extreme levels of moisture management, durability and comfort.

Berghaus' Extrem 8000 Pro Shell Jacket not only offers storm-level waterproof protection and breathability, it also offers unparalleled freedom of movement and comfort thanks to Berghaus' Xpanse technology. The Xpanse features are incorporated into the back, the hood and the face guard. This technology basically sets this jacket apart from other mountain jackets.

We particularly think that the hood is something special. The fact you can extend the hood out to fit over your helmet using little internal magnets is something we have not seen before and is an excellent solution to quickly reducing access volume. We also think more jackets should offer a feature like the zip-open face gusset as it offers excellent breathability when your mouth is covered by the jacket during storms.

The Extrem 8000 Pro is on the expensive side but when you consider all it's mountain specific features and it's waterproof, durable fabrics you can see why. It's also not bad for it's weight considering all the above. Overall an excellent technical mountaineering jacket.
