Marmot's Pre-Cip jacket is a classic, packed with useful features and backed by an impressive fabric performance.
It uses Marmots own in house waterproof fabric which offers very high breathability and a robust durable face fabric.
"Rain or shine" is no longer an ultimatum it’s an invitation. The seam-taped, waterproof and breathable Men’s PreCip® Jacket now features Marmot’s most comfortable waterproof/breathable coating technology ever.
NanoPro’s™ superior microporous structure is dynamically air permeable, allowing for air exchange to help shed excess moisture vapor without compromising the waterproofness or windproofness of the garment. Angle-Wing Movement™ allows uninhibited motion. PitZips™ and Pack Pockets™ round out the features of this high-value weather-tested jacket.
Marmot NanoPro™ is the most technically advanced 2 and 2.5 Layer coating on the market, offering unprecedented performance in a coated fabric with its Dynamic Air Permeability and long term durable waterproofness.
Marmot NanoPro™ is 43% more breathable then our previous coating technology. This advancement in fabric technology brings a new level of performance to value conscious consumers. Marmot NanoPro™ offers exceptional consumer value and cutting edge performance.
Marmot's Pre-Cip Jacket is a classic product that has been continually updated. It uses Marmots own in house fabric which has a good waterproof rating and a good breathability score. Whilst being pretty light its not in the same category as some of our ultralight shells, this is because the face fabric is a bit heavier and hence will be more durable.
This locates the Pre-Cip jacket in the mid range category. Another thing that adds weight is the feature set - the front zip has both internal and external flap which some think is a more effective arrangement than a water resistant zip with backing flap.
The pocket zips also have flaps, as do the pit zips. We like pit zips because they are a really effective way to vent a jacket, and its surprising how little rain gets in when the pit zips are open. The hood has a brim but its not wired, and the volume adjustment is via a velcro strip at the back. The collar stands up inside the hood, which folds away under the collar when not required.
Its an accomplished design with a decent fabric at a good price. Being a US Brand it zips from the wrong side (for the UK).
