Montane's Air Jacket offers enhanced breathability, 3 layer durability with a full feature set that includes an excellent technical hood.
Montane says: Lightweight, breathable and versatile mountain shell
85g Pertex Shield AP fabric has a 100% nylon rip-stop face and uses an advanced air porous membrane for the highest levels of waterproof durability. Combined with a hydrostatic head of 20,000mm, the bi-component membrane pushes out moisture from the inside, providing all day comfort in a wide range of weather conditions

Montane's Air Jacket is a mid-weight waterproof with particularly high breathability characteristics - the AP at the end of the Pertex Shield fabric stands for Air Permeable, which gives it enhanced breathability when combined with the more frequently quoted MVTR (Moisture Vapour Transmission Rate). The fabric is also three layer, which means it will be more durable than the really lightweight jackets.
The feature set and quality is good with a technical hood that moves as you do and a fully wired hood with a wide brim. Pockets are lined with mesh so as not to compromise breathability. There's a wide internal flap backing the main zip and the shaped cuff is cinched in with a velcro tab.
This jacket would make an ideal choice for lightweight backpacking where durability is important because of the pack being carried, breathability is crucial as you will be slogging up hills, and overall low weight is key for when you have to carry it.
