Mountain Hardwear's Chockstone Hike Pants are a super stretchy pair of pants with zippered pockets, cinchable ankle hems, articulated knees and a full press stud and zipper fly. The softshell fabric sheds showers.
Mountain Hardwear says: Our most technical pant. Tough and durable, with excellent stretch for increased mobility when climbing or backpacking, the Chockstone™ is made for long days in the harness or under a pack.
Mountain Hardwear's Chockstone Hike Pants are made from a super stretchy softshell fabric which is tough and lightweight. Its at the highly breathable end of the spectrum which means it won't stop the showers as well as heavier pants - but it will perform much better than non-softshell.
Its a good fabric that's comfortable to wear and as with all stretch pants they can be cut closer without compromising movement meaning that you don't have the excess fabric flapping around with some hiking pants. The Chockstone Hike pants also have articulated knees which add to the excellent freedom of movement.
There are two zipped hand pockets which are lined with mesh, there's a rear pocket which is also zipped. Not everyone likes rear pockets in trekking trousers because its of limited use when carrying a rucksack, but I use them for traveling to and from a trek.
There's a press stud and zipper fly and the weight includes a webbing belt - the fabric offers UPF protection of 50, which is among the highest ratings. The ankle seams can be cinched in using concealed shock cord.
