Montane's Alpine Stretch Pants are made from Montane's Granite fabric which is highly stretchy and tough - the stretch means you can make the pants close fitting without restricting movement - and that's what these pants are all about.
If you prefer close fitting pants to loose fitting (and flappy) trekking pants then these are worth considering, however the waistband arrangement is more 'joggers' than trousers. Although there's a zip fly the waistband doesn't part - its fixed, elasticated and has a further shockcord to keep the pants in place. There are also no belt loops - if the waistband doesn't part then there's no purpose in a belt.
This type of design means there is very little bulk around the waist area so you can wear a climbing harness more comfortably - or even a rucksack harness - without interference.
beyond this the Alpine Stretch Pants have zipped hand pockets and a zipped rear pocket. Articulated knees, kick pads and a short ankle zip. These pants are ideal if you don't like a conventional waist band with belt etc but do like close fitting pants.
