The new Cirrus flex vest from Rab is a really useful insulation piece for layering or chilling out around camp. It has all the features that we know from the rest of the Cirrus range but with the wider range of uses that come with a vest.
With its featherless insulation and Thermic™ stretch fleece panels, our Cirrus Flex Vest provides core warmth while retaining excellent breathability and ease of movement.
The sleeveless design of the Cirrus Flex Vest eradicates bulk around the shoulder, enabling the full range of movement while keeping your core fully insulated. Designed to deliver an authentic down-like feel, our 3M featherless insulation stays warm while wet, making it ideal for damp British weather or for extended trips where rapid drying is vital. Additional features include an integrated stuff sack, fleece-lined chin guard and a pair of zipped handwarmer pockets, as well as a half-hem drawcord for a fine-tuned fit.

Rab's Cirrus Flex Insulated Vest is a handy addition to the Cirrus range. It utilises the same Cirrus insulation (powered by 3M featherless insulation) and the same thermic stretch fleece along the side panels to give it that snug, yet non-restrictive fit.
The fit around the armpits is pretty much bang on, not too baggy and not too tight whilst the body fits the same as the rest of the cirrus range, slightly longer and slimmer than most other Rab insulation pieces. As always with the Cirrus range an Atmos rip stop outer and liner fabric is used, this has a soft and comfortable feel and is relatively quiet compared to most other shell fabrics.
What makes the cirrus vest stand out is its great flexibility in use. Thanks to the snugger fit around the body this can be chucked under a shell if the wind is really biting, or if it’s a cool summer evening this turns into a great chill out piece with deep hand pockets and that comfy fleece side panel.
Another useful set of features are the interior drop pockets which are surprisingly deep, just in case you need to stuff something away in a hurry. .
