Montane's new Fusion Alpha provides a completely new style through a combination of fabrics. This light, durable and insulated jacket provides a range of practical and technical features.
Montane says: Unique alpine climbing hybrid insulation.
Developed using thermal imaging data produced during activities in cold, wet conditions, the Fusion Alpha Jacket sets the standard for critical attention to detail. With a full set of technical features aimed at alpinists and using a combination of the highest performing fabrics available (POLARTEC® Alpha, PERTEX® Quantum CS-10 and POLARTEC® Power Grid™), the Fusion Alpha offers insulation, wind protection and breathability in one hit.
The new Montane Fusion Alpha provides a very different style which may bring out the love/hate marmite effect. It was designed with British Mountaineer Andy Kirkpatrick to provide warmth off the rocks while remaining lightweight and maximizing durability. This is designed as active wear with thumb holes, a stretch hood capable of fitting comfortably under or over a helmet and breathable cooling fabrics under the arms. It works well in a range of conditions providing some protection against the wind and light rain resistance.
Although this a more expensive softshell it is tagged as a high performance jacket. The main material feels strong and light, using tough nylon rip-stop fabric and although it is primarily designed with alpinists in mind this jacket would do well in most outdoor activities. Despite this the material is not necessarily going to withstand the kind of scrapes across the rocks when climbing but the lower arms can be rolled up to the elbow easily if needed.
