RAB's Fulcrum Jacket is a simple, lightweight, stretch, softshell jacket that will shrug off the odd shower but is best suited to those days that go from sunny and warm to windy and chilly.
New for Spring/Summer ’16, the Fulcrum Jacket is a super light-weight and breathable Matrix™ stretch softshell jacket, designed for summer use in the mountains.
A wind-resistant and highly breathable softshell, the Fulcrum Jacket is ideal for summer days on the hill, offering a high level of comfort and protection in a lightweight package. The Matrix DWS fabric offers a level of stretch which makes the Fulcrum extremely comfortable to wear and a close fitting collar allows you to keep heat in should the temperature drop.
A slim fit enables the Fulcrum Jacket to be worn as a minimalist climbing jacket throughout the summer months.

Rab's Fulcrum Jacket is made from a lightweight version of their own softshell fabric called Matrix DWS, we've used Matrix before and its very good at keeping the elements at bay, its a tight weave fabric with moderate stretch and a decent DWR coating so that water beads on its surface.
Lightweight softshells are a compromise on shower proof performance - the lighter the fabric the less well it deals with squalls - by contrast quite heavy softshells shrug of showers without a problem. So the Fulcrum is definitely at the lighter end but that also means higher breathability than heavier garments.
As RAB says its a great summer jacket providing real protection when a warm day turns to a windy, chilly one perhaps with a rain flurry or two. Feature-wise its very simple, the part elasticated cuffs keep the weight down but RAB have splashed about on pockets - two handwarmer and one internal chest pocket keep you organised.
There's no fleece chin guard, often found on this type of garment. Its the kind of jacket you'll pull on day after day over a long summer, comfortable, flexible and none too heavy when you're not wearing it.
