Warm, stretchy and breathable like the Regulator fleece has always been, but with the added benefits of abrasion and weather resistance. This cool-weather crosslayer was designed for extended versatility in shifting mountain conditions.
Like the sheep that inspired it, technical fleece has always been comfortable roaming the hills. But unlike sheep, you and your fleece will definitely mind when the weather gets cold, windy and wet. Extend your range with the new R1® TechFace Jacket. Its unique double-weave construction combines a durable face with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish and a lofted interior into a single, high-performance material for better protection against the wind, precipitation and abrasion—ideal as a low-profile midlayer or as a light outer layer. The full center zip lets you dump heat at will; two handwarmer pockets are high and out of the way of a harness or waistbelt. The cuffs are sleek, stretchy and low-profile to avoid snagging, and the cord-lock hem seals out drafts.

Patagonia's R1 TechFace Jacket is a high performance fleece with a soft feel inner and harder, durable outer. The Regulator fleece is soft and comfortable to wear while doing what it should by regulating the heat. The durable face fabric does a good job of shedding light rain and providing some wind resistance. The grid effect is not to everyone's taste in terms of feel and looks but it works really well.
Features wise there are handwarmer pockets, the hem has elasticated drawcords and the cuffs have a well thought out stretch panel. This is not the lightest piece for the warmth it will provide but the features and packable nature of it make the jacket a great choice for hiking, climbing and a range of other mountain activities.
