Mountain Hardwear's AP Scrambler shorts are made from a stretch canvas with a high percentage of cotton, they are very comfortable with some nice style cues, and perfect for traveling.
Mountain Hardwear says: Functionality and style in a single, versatile performance short. For hiking, climbing, or simply running errands--it looks great and thrives in a variety of terrains, both outdoors and in.
Mountain Hardwear's AP Scrambler Shortsts have a casual look and feel to them - the fabric itself feels like cotton, (its actually 75% cotton), but it has two way stretch and a degree of nylon woven into it. Mountain Hardwear say they are designed for 'hiking, climbing or simply running errands' but we think they are firmly a casual short - but a brilliant one.
The waist is a stretchy band - it doesn't open but there is a zippered fly, so the scrambler pants need to be pulled on. They do have a waist cord which will be useful if the elastication's natural position doesn't grip as well as you want it to. All in all I would have preferred a conventional opening to the waistband but that would make them less appealing to some.
All the pockets are mesh lined and are either open (hand pockets), have press stud flaps (rear pockets) or are concealed zipper pockets (thigh). The AP Scrambler shorts would be excellent for travel.
