The Thermo Flare jacket is an incredibly soft feeling fleece which offers a good amount of warmth for it's low weight. An excellent fleece for wearing over a light baselayer in mild conditions or layered under a down/shell in winter conditions.

Marmot says:

The Thermo Flare Jacket delivers weather-resistant insulation without batting an eye. The secret is in the high-loft Polartec® Thermal Pro® fabric, which provides uncompromised warmth in a lightweight package.

Marmot's Thermo Flare Jacket uses incredibly soft fleece fabric, inside and out. So soft in fact you might not want to take it off. It's very light considering the warmth you get out of it and it packs down well to store in a pack.

There's a few features which make it stand out from other fleeces. The first is that the hand warmer pockets are on the large size. You practically get an entire torso's worth of height inside, so you will have no problem storing long maps.

Secondly is the stretchy cuffs. The pictures don't show it well but there's a V-shaped cut out at the cuffs which has been replaced with stretchy fabric which gives you better freedom of movement  It's also slightly tougher than the fleece so will help against general wear when grabbing or using kit.

Marmot Thermo Flare Jacket

Purchased about 4 weeks ago. A very poorly made and vastly overpriced rip-off of the Mountain Hardware Monkey Man (MM) 200. Cheap and nasty wire spiral zip, the iron-on Marmot plastic logo is already becoming detached, the sleeve cuffs are a very poor copy of those on the MM 200.. all in all a complete waste of my hard earned money. Buy the MM200 if you can and avoid the MM Grid 2, that sucks as well and is nothing like the MM200 at all; MM200's are still out there. The MM200 is an awesome product and well worth patiently tracking down.
