Mountain Hardwear's Ghost Whisperer Down Pant uses proprietary in-house fabrics and moisture resistant 800 Fill Power down to create a super light and warm layering piece.
Mountain Hardwear says:
At less than eight ounces, the Unisex Ghost Whisperer Pant can be worn for layered warmth and compressed into into its own pocket for easy storage on a ski or climb. It's Nikwax Hydrophobic Down 800-fill retains critical loft, even in damp conditions.
For those of you that already love your Ghost Whisperer Jackets from Mountain Hardwear, you'll be happy to see it available in a pant form. Just like the jackets, they're super light, warm and highly compressible, yet there's very little compromise on features. There's two deep open pockets and one press-stud closure pocket that doubles as a storage sack. There's also a stretchy waist band with a zip opening and press stud closure.
With all the excitement of this pant being released, we were not sure why Mountain Hardwear would decided to make this a unisex pant as we all know you will never get a pant that will fit both men and women perfectly. But we must admit the overall fit isn't too bad. Most of the guys here at UOG are around 6ft in height and found that the fit was true to size and found that they were not as restrictive as you would expect for an alpine fit down pant. With the woman it was surprisingly a similar note. We vary from around 5ft 3in to 5ft 6in and we all found them a nice fit once we tried on our expected waist size. The shorter woman like myself did have the waist band sitting a little higher than you normally would though, but considering it's being layered over other pants that's not too bad.
Now down pants are never going to be the most flattering pants on, but who cares when your the one with toasty warm legs at the crags or camp site on a chilly Autumn/Winters day.
