Montane's Quattro Fusion Jacket truly is a unique jacket. Not only does it offer excellent warmth for weight with zoned 800+ down fill, it also uses zoned areas of Polartec Alpha breathable insulation, a more modern version of a lightweight fleece, that keeps you warm but lets sweat out, even when active.

We all know now that Polartec Alpha Direct is designed to be worn when you are active - so on the move. But with the Quattro Fusion Jacket, you would be comfortable stopping mid ascent for lunch or to make a brew, without feeling the need to throw on another layer. Its quite a breakthrough, especially for cold weather activities when you need insulation but start sweating hard when you reach a strenuous bit.

As far as I know, Montane are the first to combine both down and Polartec Alpha Direct into one jacket (forgive me if I'm wrong) and I wouldn't be surprised if others soon followed as it makes this a great technical jacket for most winter activities.

Polartec Alpha

The Montane Quattro Fusion Jacket is great and performs exactly as described in the "Verdict". It is definitely designed for hard work in colder conditions. The one downside is that the Polartec Alpha panels covered in pertex quantum air on the back seem to work poorly in strong cold winds. Seems counter-intuitive to face into the wind for the best warmth when you are resting! to try it in damp conditions now.
