The Essens Hooded Down Jacket provides a good amount of warmth for it's weight. Made with recycled fabrics and flurocarbon free water resistant down - a superior insulation that will stay dry longer, dry faster and keep you warm in the wettest conditions.
A superior down hooded jacket with very low weight, superb compressibility and warmth. We've chosen recycled, fluorocarbon free materials in the build as well as traceable down, making it a bluesign approved product.

We like the style of the Haglofs Essens Hooded Down Jacket as it's close fitting enough to be worn comfortably under a shell as a mid-layer when it's both freezing and pouring with rain. But of course it's a great jacket to wear as an outer layer in dryer conditions as it has a Pertex Quantum outer which will tolerate gentle rain showers while still keeping you comfortable and dry.
A unique feature of this lightweight jacket is that it has Polartec Powerstretch shoulder inserts underneath the arms and across the back of the shoulders to prevent any restrictions when your moving. Now the hood is going to be a love or hate relationship for some. The hood itself is good with a reinforced peak and front external pull cords (covered by fabric to avoid it whipping in the wind). However the adjustment at the back of the hood is on the outside. This is good for saving weight as there's less fabric used to do so, but we don't think that it's as effective for reducing unwanted volume.
There's plenty of storage pockets (two hand and one chest) with one of the hand warmer pockets doubling as a stuff sack. Elasticated hem and cuffs to keep the weight down. This latest incarnation of the Essens Hooded Jacket has seen a big improvement when it comes to the fabric. It's now updated with recycled and flurocarbon free materials which is better for the environment. It also uses traceable down which will help to put a lot of peoples mind's at ease.
