Rab's Pulse Hoody is an ultra-lightweight hooded baselayer with great technical features, such as microactive low bulk seams for extra strength. The inclusion of Polygiene stops it from smelling too bad after exercise, meaning less washing and longer wearing. It feels incredibly soft, almost silk-like against your skin and has everything you will need from a breathable top, including an attractive grid texture on the fabric face.

September 25, 2019 | Great baselayer
Great Hoody

Bought size S (I'm 183cm 70kg) which weighed on my scales: 104g. Extremely soft and comfortable hoody, good as baselayer or on its own. Perfect for running in temps 10+°. The fit is loose, although not too baggy. I personally like the loose fit as it allows you to wear a tighter baselayer under it for those colder days. The looser fit does make it a bit less ideal as a baselayer if you have a tight midlayer, such as a lightweight fleece. Under a down jacket it works great though. The breathability is fine but expect no miracles, under heavy loads like a backpack or when running the shirt gets damp. The loose hood helps a bit with ventilation but I feel like the loose fit (of the hood) might be a problem if you don't have a buzz-cut that helps it to stay in place. All in all, it's a great baselayer for the price, just keep in mind the slightly loose fit.

I'm happy happy happy... Bought another after 2 weeks use.

1st...thanks to UOG... I called in at the showroom after checking my desired sizes were available. Excellent service as usual (even if there's no drink machine or coffee offered for long distance travellers ;) ) The hoody... Wow, very comfortable and an excellent relaxed fit. I bought it for its weight, sun protection and its fast dying ability. I've used it for back packing, Fastpacking and trail running. PROS: WEIGHT. Very light 127g for a Large. FIT. Very comfortable next to skin. Relaxed yet makes you look more athletic than you may be? Hood is generous and let's air in to help keep you cool. It also does a good job of keeping sweat from your eyes. If you've a shaved head or a days growth... it will stick fast on your head top and this works great if the wind is blowing or you're running. If you wear it down and it blows onto your shoulder... You don't notice it, it's that soft and light. Thumb loops are good and best yet, the sleeves can be pushed up for venting or preventing soiling when cooking or pitching shelter. Neck is also comfortable FUNCTION. Very breathable yet oddly insulating depending on temperature and activity. Works well on its own, keeps the worst of the sun off. Dries very quick if damp from sweat. Strange magic is... It breathes that well, and dries that quick I've yet to get damp. I've had small damp spots on my athletic belly... But that's it. Add a thin fleece layer over or under and its a great combination when the temperature gets below 8c. I use an Ultralight Polartec Alpha layer. COLOURS. Good strong colours, UOG was the only place I could find my beloved Orange :) How does it wash? Great! Comes out of the machine after a gentle spin almost bone dry. Ideal for multi day treks where you need to launder as you go. CONS: KEEP IT AWAY FROM VELCRO. It will destroy the look and performance. The material is, in my opinion, the same as the older Rab Interval shirts. Sithee
