Montane's Allez Micro Hoodie is made from Polartec Power Grid which has raised channels on the inside of the fabric designed to trap air making it warmer than you'd expect from its weight. Highly breathable though warmth is compromised in windy conditions.
Montane says:
Lightweight POLARTEC Power Grid fabric delivers a superbly functional garment that can be worn either as a baselayer in cold conditions or as a lightweight mid-layer.

Montane's Allez Micro Hoodie, provides warmth either next to the skin or over a thin baselayer. Air is trapped in the texture of the fabric which has raised channels on the inside for this specific purpose - so its warmer than you'd expect for its weight. The backing fabric is pretty open-weave though - this means that its highly breathable but wind whistles straight through it - so on a windy day it won't be anywhere near as warm unless you back it up with a windproof layer.

Everything I expected
Good ultralight fleece, well made, good quality and very light. Brought it out on 2 runs as a base layer and a hike as a mid layer. Works well as both, keeps me warm while on the move, breathes great. I'm 5ft 8 170lb and ordered a medium which I knew would be a snug fit (like the photos). If you want something that is a looser fit definitely size up.

Classy bit of kit, well worth the money.
It's a lightweight mid/base layer. And it does what you'd expect it to rather well.
I have worn mine as a single layer or under a windproof for a lot of the summer. It wicks sweat very well, but doesn't start to pong after 3 hours like some of the cheaper synthetics.
Despite being rather lightweight, it generates a good bit of warmth when out of the wind, and even manages to keep it shape well after being worn for a few days in a row.
For sizing, I was between the M and L sizes (I have a 39" chest). I went for the M, which is a snug fit but as I wear this jersey next to my skin it's the right choice for me. The fabric has a bit of stretch in it, which means I can wear the hood under my helmet if needs me.
