When hiking in warm climates, you want lightweight garments with maximum ventilation and this t-shirt in a quick-drying jersey knit is perfect for the job. The cut is a little looser so air can get in and cool you down, and the gussets under the arms give extra freedom of movement. The shoulder seams are positioned to minimise the risk of chafing when carrying a backpack.
Our Verdict
Clothing in the Abisko family is designed for lightweight trekking. The garments are characterised by low weight, fast drying and good ventilation - perfect for when you want to move around easily, either in the summer mountains or in warmer climates.
Fjallraven's Abisko Day Hike SS is made from breathable polyester fabric that uses 88% recycled content which is great to see. The fabric efficiently wicks moisture away from your body and the jersey knit design provides really good ventilation. The fabric used makes this the lightest weight tee in the Abisko range with a medium weighing in at just 108g.
The top feels incredibly soft, yet still tough enough for most adventures. It's got quite a loose fit for active wear which is quite different these days and that is another way it increases airflow. The top is finished off with a subtle Fjällräven logo on the chest and flatlock seams to reduce chafing.
