Our Verdict
The MSR Trail Base Water Filter Kits are pocket sized trail filters which serve as a fast-and-light solution while hiking, trail running or mountain biking, and offers drink-from-the-source convenience.
The main part of this kit is the Trail Filter which delivers 1 litre of clean water in just 60 seconds, protecting against protozoa and bacteria. It can be used instantly from water sources along the trail, or fill up your water bottles and get moving quickly again.
The kits also includes durable yet lightweight reservoirs, one for dirty water and one for clean water. These come into play when it's time to filter larger volumes of water as the trail filter can be transformed into a complete gravity system. Simply attach the gravity components to the trail filter, add the clean reservoir and let gravity do the work.
Overall it's an versatile piece of kit that provides you with the clean water you need in a solution that won't weigh you down.
