Mountain King's Trail Blaze Poles are very lightweight and fold down into four sections making them ideal for trail, hill runners and walkers looking for lightweight poles.
Mountain King says: 4 Section high performance aluminium alloy trail pole. (pair)
The 4 section Trail Blaze is essential kit for ultra trail running, light weight hiking and para-gliding. We recommend these poles are used as a pair. Sold as a Pair.
When we first saw these poles we were shocked at just how light they really are. In terms of design they're pretty simple. The poles are a fixed length so you can't adjust the length to suit the terrain and the handles are constructed from a basic mesh airflow grip. Not as soft as you might like but they do the job. The fabric handles are light and thin but again comfortable enough.
To lock the poles into place you need to slot all the sections together, then pull the thin cord out the top until you see the small knot which you then hook through the grooves on the top of the handle. A little bit of a faff but it works.
With poles like this you have to remember that reduced weight comes at a cost. These ultra light poles won't be as tough as your average pole but that's a sacrifice you need to make if you want an ultra lightweight pole with a small pack size. These types of poles are better suited to keeping you balanced and pushing you back on track, rather than being completely weight baring.

Small, light, strong
Folds into four sections and so fits easily inside your pack. Lighter than most. Joints do not telescope so they don't let you down. I have found length adjustment to be unnecessary, so fixed length is fine. Used mine for about 5 years in winter backpacking in the Cairngorms. No other poles have these advantages.

Game changer
Just Made a +2000m solid climb using these poles. When the climb gets steep, I can put out a lot of extra energy in a very similar fashion like rowing a boat or Nordic style. I have the longest size, so that the poles are way behind me and pushing nicely. But lean on them with your full weight, and see them bend crazy like a bow. But this is not the point, for just pushing up the hill you never will need anything harder than these. On the downhill I fold them, and they feel basically weightless, and need no space at all. On the big climb, these are a true game changer.
