Leki's Thermolite XL are quite light for a conventional pole with external lever lock adjustments and Leki's superbly soft Aergon foam handle.
The Thermolite XL features comfortable Aergon grips including thermal extension, TÜV-certified Speed Lock 2 adjustment system and ultralight, high-strength aluminium shafts.
Leki's Thermolite XL poles, are relatively lightweight among the plethora of conventional trekking poles, the Aergon grip is really nice and the wrist strap is made from extremely thin webbing which enhances its comfort.
We like the Leki external Lever locks because they are easy to adjust and use. The Thermolite XLs also have the foam extending down the shaft which is designed for uphill struggles!
I recently tested a set of the Thermolite XL poles during a week of backpacking in Scotland. I don't tend to use trekking poles but decided to try the Thermolite XL and I am now a total convert. I'll not go backpacking in future without them.
They performed superbly, coping with river crossings and provided extra support and confidence on several tricky descents. They felt strong and well made and frankly I can't think of a pole I'd have rather used on this trip. There are lighter poles but when covering rocky ground the added strength and lack of flex from the Thermolite XLs is reassuring.
The extra length foam grip was useful when getting up steep climbs as there was no need to constantly adjust the poles.
