Helinox's TL120 Adjustable Trekking poles use a twist lock section to vary the length of the pole for varying ascents and descents.

Helinox says:

Passport series poles provide the lowest weight and the most compact size for the wilderness, on trails and in the urban environment. Passport series poles are suited for moderate to arduous overnight or day trips.
Poles with a tension lock system use a single locking button to keep the folding pole sections together. An internal elastic cord maintains constant tension on the pole sections while the button is in the locked position. Depressing the lock button releases tension and the sections come apart for stowage. Tension lock poles have the shortest compacted length in our range.

The TL120 is adjustable in length with the twist lock system. This radical step forward in walking pole technology achieves entirely new levels of lightweight strength, compactness, operating simplicity and economy - making walking poles considerably more 'user friendly' than ever before.

Sold as a pair.

Helinox Passport Trekking poles have been my favourite pole for quite a while now - chiefly because they pack away so neatly and yet are a very tough pole - they seem to be significantly stronger than some other 'lightweight' poles out there.

2014 sees the introduction of the TLA, which is an adjustable version of my favourite pole, using a twist lock arrangement on the top section of the pole they can be adjusted from 110 to 120cm, yet still pack down to 35cm. This is a good innovation that adds about 22grams to the weight of each pole - so its not onerous. If you like to adjust the length of your poles to suit the terrain these new Passport poles give you access to some quality technology.

Aside from my 'waxing lyrical' the Passport poles have a nice `slim´ grip that works well. The hand loops adjust easily, which is not the same as some other poles where you sometimes struggle to slacken them off - in fact the adjustment may be a bít too easy as the straps loosen on a regular basis - however I find this fine because they can be adjusted back easily.

A great adjustable trekking pole that packs up really neatly.

Super light, super strong, super awesome

Used these for both running and walking and can’t believe what a difference they make! After a lot of research, I trusted the Ultralight team’s review and went for these over carbon poles. Mostly, I was convinced by the durability of aluminium over carbon. I’m 85kg so was a bit worried about flex in such light poles, but they are reassuringly solid when placed uphill and downhill, even at speed. There’s some flex in the shaft, but you don’t feel it in the handle and there’s certainly no feeling they aren’t tough enough, even at this low weight. Due to the lightness, I’ve found running with them in my hand either full length or folded is hardly noticeable and the small pack size and weight is a huge bonus when stowing them on longer flats. They fit well in the front of my Ultimate Direction run vest. In general, they’ve increased my speed uphill and along technical undulating ridges and made descending easier on my legs and provided more stability. The straps are comfortable and easy to adjust - I haven’t noticed them slipping. The integrated Velcro is a nice touch for stowing the poles. So good, my wife has just bought a set!

Used over 4 days walking in the Pyrenees. Lived up to expectations, the weight and size made them ideal for travel. Their only 'downside' was the small basket size that meant they tended to 'sink' into snow.
