Nigor's Parula 2 tent uses superior fabrics to achieve durability and space without compromising on lightness for this 2 person tent.
Nigor says: This design is built around this one pole and DAC Sunflower and Swivel connecting cross. With straight side walls plus ample headroom and legroom, you can sit up, lie down, or stretch out all while being totally comfortable.
The fly sheet is made of GorLyn 10 and in combination with the DAC poles we created a lightweight tent with more than enough space for two persons.
Our fabric has been constructed using high-tenacity nylon 6.6, which has a higher tensile strength than regular and most used nylon in tent construction. The fabric has been silicone coated in three steps, resulting in a most durable and water repellent protection. The silicone treatment has no affect on the fabric strength of our fabrics. Normal PU coatings tend to reduce the tear strength up to 70%, which in our opinion weakens the fabrics too much to use them in lightweight tent designs.
The tent floor is made from a 20-denier nylon rip stop with a laminated thermo-plastic polyurethane (TPU) coating. TPU coatings have greater bonding durability and better abrasion resistance than conventional liquid-applied PU coatings. This is the best tent floor you can get.
The DAC Featherlite NSL aluminium shock corded frame is easy to set up.
Nigor isn't an established brand yet in the UK but we think it deserves close consideration because of their focus on making ultralight kit that doesn't compromise performance or strength. At 1.6kg its around the lightest tent of this design available - and this design excels for two people, having a very stable pole structure and two entrances.
The Parula differs from other similar tents by having two crossover poles instead of one, as well as being more stable this creates a larger internal volume than similar tents using just one crossover pole. It also has the benefit of higher spec'd fabrics - Nigor have done a lot of research in this area, and have managed to achieve a higher specification with little or no increase in weight.
We also like the squared off porch which provides more area than most tents that have a simple triangular porch.
