Six Moon Designs' Deschutes Cuben Fibre Tarp bridges the gap between rectangular tarps and a tent giving great protection at a very low weight.
Six Moon Designs says:
We've updated the Deschutes Cuben Fiber model for 2015. On the new model we've extended the zipper by 10" to make it easier to get in and out. Plus we've added a vent at the top of the tent. Together these changes added less than an ounce to the Deschutes and contribute significantly to it's livability.
The Deschutes Tarp is an Ultralight shelter designed to give you the most interior while maximizing protection from the elements and minimizing weight. For people looking for a light shelter option with plenty of space and minimal weight, the Deschutes is a perfect fit!
The Deschutes Tarp is 14” deeper, 5" longer and 3" taller than the Wild Oasis. The result is 44 ft2 of coverage and height of 49”. That’s an addition 9 ft2 of living space. With the added height you've got plenty of room to sit up and the extra room lets you spread out your gear.
The front vestibule is partially closed with a minimal zipper to allow for easy entry while still saving weight. The simple pyramid structure is easy to setup and spills the wind and harshest storms.
The Deschutes CF Tarp comes in a almost half the weight of the Silicone Nylon version at an incredible 7 ounces.
The Deschutes Tarp, is designed to mate perfectly with the newly redesigned Serenity NetTent. Together they make an excellent double wall solo tent with plenty of space and protection for a mere 18 ounces.
Six Moon Designs' Deschutes Cuben Fibre Solo Tarp is the Cuben Fibre version of their key tarp shelter, pitched using a single trekking pole it provides a huge amount of space for one person and can be paired with the Six Moons Designs Serenity Bug Shelter for when you need more protection.
It has a differential cut such that you can pitch it close to the ground at the rear & sides and the front will be comparatively open, set quite high off the ground - while still providing the necessary protection. A zipper allows easy access.
If the openness of Tarps has you a bit worried about the UK conditions the Deschutes Tarp bridges the gap between a rectangular tarp and a tent - whilst still remaining remarkably lightweight.
