With more weight saved on this new version you get a quality, freestanding ultralight tent from Marmot. The Tungsten UL 1P Tent lets you travel lighter on the trail without having to sacrifice living space.

Marmot says:

More space means more comfort, and the Tungsten Ultralight 1-Person Tent delivers without adding extra weight to your pack. Zone pre-bend construction creates vertical walls for plenty of sleeping space and headroom for stretching out after your solo trek on the AT. “Easy pitch" clips and poles make it easy to set up quickly. If a downpour hits, the seam-taped bathtub floor ensures you'll stay dry and resists pooling, and the rain-shield flysheet won't stretch out if it gets wet. Stash your pack, poles and other gear in the vestibule and tuck a headlamp into the UV lampshade pocket. People/Product/Planet® Sustainably designed and manufactured in keeping with our commitment to minimum impact and maximum performance.

Marmot's 2020 Tungsten UL 1P Tent is an even lighter weight version of Marmot's best-selling original Tungsten UL 1P tent. It maximizes liveability while keeping weight at a point that caters to backpackers. This lightweight freestanding tent has a more roomy sleeping area and tons of headroom thanks to an intelligent pole construction that creates vertical walls.

Extensive mesh on the walls and ceiling ensure excellent ventilation and keeps condensation to a minimum. Both the fully weatherproof rain fly and floor are seam sealed and the catenary cut of the floor keeps the edges of the tent away from the ground in wet weather.

Employing integrated color-coded clips, the tent body attaches quickly, easily, and securely to the poles, creating a freestanding design that enables you to set up the tent and then move it around your chosen campsite to find the optimal rock and root free position.

Really cool piece of gear

After years of tarping, I saw one of these on the trail and decided to give it a go. Took it on an AT thru-hike and it didn't let me down at all. I broke down the constituent parts - poles, stakes, inner and outer - rather than use the supplied stuff sack, just so it fit better. Easy enough to set up, although you gotta be delicate with the poles as they could easily be damaged if you stood on them. I liked the inner pockets and the fly stakes out far enough to get your gear under cover too. I chose this specifically because you can sit up in it, which a lot of other UL tents don't allow. So it has a high, long, narrow footprint. If you get the wind wrong, once it's assembled, it's light and self-assembly strong enough to just pick it up and walk to a better spot. Waterproofing was good enough for the Smokies in November, no worries there. Dries out quickly too. Only thing I did do was buy the additional footprint for protection as the bathtub could get damaged on spiky or rough ground. Great purchase for the price.
