The Nordisk Telemark 1 LW is an ideal tent for solo backpacking as it's extremely light and small, yet spacious and very strong.

Nordisk says:

Telemark 1 is a very spacious 1 person tent with a surprisingly low weight due to the technical construction and the choice of state-of-the-art fabrics and components.

Despite striving for the lowest weight possible, there are no compromises on function nor comfort. Inner pocket for storage, ventilation through mechanical construction as well as mesh window, easy adjustable guy ropes, magnet closing and as the most unique feature, the corner poles can also be used to convert the door into a tarp.

Every gram counts when back packing and while many modern back packing tents tip the scales at less than 1000 grams, not all of them are practical to use in challenging weather. The Telemark 1 LW is a spacious yet lightweight 1 man tent made from strong, lightweight aluminium poles that can withstand wind speeds of up to 25.0 m/sec. What makes it unique is that it has a large vestibule for storage of gear and the whole tent can be erected in under 4 minutes with a little practice.

The Telemark 1 comes in 2 versions, the model featured here is the lightweight (LW) model, which weighs in at 794 grams (excluding pegs) and uses aluminium poles. There is also an ultra lightweight (ULW) version that weighs in at 756 grams (excluding pegs) and uses carbon poles. Depending on how important weight is to you, you could save yourself a few bob with the LW version or save on weight with the ULW version.

A backpacking tent worth considering

I bought this tent last June 2020 to replace a Wild Country Zephros 1 Lite- a similar size & style of tent I'd had for 5 years. I've used it on the SW Coast Path in July, in the Lake District this Autumn & most recently on NY Eve in cold, still conditions. Reducing weight was my primary concern & this tent was 400g lighter. The quality of the tent is excellent, I particularly liked the easy to use clips connecting the inner & fly, the fly pocket that doubles as the stuff sac, & the high quality tent pegs. It's definitely more difficult to erect this tent than the Zephros, you need to be careful to get the corner guys correctly located for a taut fly sheet. If you don't get this right the fly drapes over the inner & if condensation is present, it ends up on your sleeping bag, especially in windy/wet conditions. I don't find condensation to be worse in this tent compared to the Zephros, but it's best to have the vent above the entrance facing the prevailing wind (this can change of course). This tent is definitely worth considering for your next 1 man backpacking tent, if cost is not the over-riding issue.

Efficient but uncomfortable

This tent is made with amazing materials. Long heavy rains are not a problem. It is very quick to dry and very easy to set up (be careful when it's wet though, the pole will rip right through the material as you're trying to set it up). It's low-weight and packs small. it also requires very little space to set it up.
The downside is unfortunately the poor ventilation. The condensation was a real problem in cold and wet environments, and in extremely hot environments it turned into a sauna. Literally. It's also a very low tent, other than laying inside there isn't much you can do. Which can be a bit uncomfortable in the mornings, when getting out implies touching the walls of the tent which are always wet.
I used this tent everyday for more than a year, and I used it in all environments, from deserts to jungles to glaciers. Again, it has amazing durability and it will do the job. But if i were take a similar trip I would go with one that has better ventilation - it reduces the stress of sleeping in one position so the sleeping bag won't get TOO wet, and it would reduce the time i spent every morning trying to dry everything.
Overall a good but uncomfortable tent.
