A super lightweight, trekking pole tent that is ideal for fast and light expeditions and adventure racing. Exceptional ventilation for a single skin shelter and loads of practical features result in a great solo tent.
Big Agnes says:
Our Scout 1 Platinum is a single-wall, insanely lightweight yet roomy trail phenom. At less than one pound, there’s no reason this tent shouldn’t be in your pack for fast and light solo missions. The full-body mesh vent system on this trekking-pole supported tent keeps air circulating and weather out, which makes this spacious, single-wall shelter your ultralight adventure must-have.

Big Agnes' Scout 1 Platinum Tent is an incredibly light-weight solo shelter. The living space is decent with a length of 214cm you can fit your pack inside at whichever end you prefer. It has a practical, liveable design with plenty of pockets, gear loops and great ventilation for reducing condensation.
The tent was quick and simple to set up but is worth noting that you need an adjustable walking or tarp pole for the support as a fully extended pole could be too tall. There are plenty of guy lines to ensure a stable pitch. Single skin tents save weight over 2 layer but there is always the concern over condensation. The impressive array of vents will reduce this risk but the positioning means that the weather resistance is reduced. This is more of a fair weather tent and would struggle with 3 season conditions we would experience here in the UK.
Obviously for a tent this light it won't be as durable as heavier options. We would recommend using a footprint if you think you will be pitching on rough ground and Big Agnes have produced a specific model, the Scout 1 Platinum Footprint, for the weight conscious.
