Lightwave's Sigma tents have moved the goalposts with regard to single skin tents - the condensation issue has been effectively tackled, combine this with a stable and spacious 4 season structure and you have a very effective shelter.

Lightwave says:

In 2016 Lightwave launched it's first single-wall trekking tents; the Sigma range. Single-wall tents have always been a rarity in trekking. The age-old problem of condensation has traditionally inhibited their mainstream use. The Sigma range uses a new fabric technology that effectively resolves this fundamental issue.

The ground breaking X-tex fabric used in our sigma tents has an activated carbon coating which absorbs the humidity as it condenses and prevents it from forming droplets. Not only does the interior tent surface feel dry to touch, but the large surface area created by the activated carbon means water molecules remain in a greater state of disassociation and allows them to pass through to the outside more readily and continuously.

The Sigma tents are optimised for trekking and feature a large porch for storage, easy access and generous headroom.

Lightwave's s10 Sigma Tent is a 4 season free standing shelter with its own poleset weighing in at just 1.1kg, it achieves this awesome statistic by being single skin construction. Single skin puts many people off, especially if they've had a bad night of condensation pooling inside the tent - we like single skin tents but are cool with the consequences - NOW THOUGH, Lightwave's Sigma tents have cracked the condensation issue.

The special fabric keeps the inside of the tent condensation free - feedback we've had from customers confirms this works and is a real breakthrough.

You also get an inner section of the tent made from substantially solid fabric as opposed to mesh - this is also important as it will keep the tent warmer in cooler weather. There's a decent amount of space inside and decent headroom, its a great option for typical UK conditions.

Following early feedback that the pole was very tight to fit into the eyelets on the tent, Lightwave have now added an additional eyelet so users can choose a slightly looser fit to making pitching easier.

Update - even better now

So Lightwave also had excellent customer service - I have the older version - which sometimes can cause quite a wrestling match to get the poles in the eyelets - but after sending an enquiry to Lightwave they put in an extra pair (like in the newer version) free of charge :)

Excellent mix of weight/space & strength

Really well made yet simple minimalist design. Enough strength for 4 season higher altitude use. X-tex breathes as well as eVent and being single skin it provides excellent space for a lower weight. Generous vestibule for cooking and storage in bad weather too. Robustly constructed with plenty of strong guy lines mean it's confidence inspiring in turbulent conditions, as strong a tent as possible at 1.3kg.
Only minor niggles so far are 1. Poles are very long and a fair amount of strength is needed to seat them in eyelets. 2. A 2 way zip on the flysheet door would be better for venting/cooking. 3. Standard pegs are not finger friendly and hard to extract.
Overall, a lovely bit of cutting edge kit.
