Sierra Design's High Route 3000 1P Tent is an innovative design for a trekking pole tent. The seemingly simple design creates a spacious and stable shelter with the use of trekking poles where, for a change, they are not inside the tent right in the way. There are numerous features that make this tent a pleasure to use for short trips through to extended expeditions.

The low weight and small packsize are excellent for weight and space conscious backpackers. Practical features such as the small 'garage door' opening on the other side of the tent make the vestibule much easier to use no matter how bad the conditions may be. It is quick and easy to pitch once you get the hang of it and it's really versatile with an outer or inner only pitch possible.

Exactly what I've been looking for

I've been through a quite a few tents over the years and never found a tent that ticks as many boxes for me as this one. I like the fact that if it's raining I can set the outer up and get inside it out of the rain, get my wet gear off and then put the inner up while dry. If I need to cook inside the tent I just pull the inner tent back a bit which makes enough space in the vestibule and I absolutely love the gear door on the other side of the tent so I can keep the entrance to the tent clear. I think this tent will become my go to tent for most trips.

Great tent - Sturdy but initial set up is tricky

Whilst this tent can take some getting used to, once you get the hang of setting it up it feels like it could withstand a tornado. It does require 2 adjustable trekking poles to set up though. This is probably why it's so sturdy. One down side would be that the internal space is quite small compared to the overall footprint of the tent. There isn't a ton of headroom but at least you're guaranteed to stay dry with 6 inches between the inner and outer walls. Another thing to note is the light weight stakes that come with it. They are very light and also quite fragile, so take care when using them or swap them out for something tougher. Overall its a great tent, one you can feel safe in. Just make sure you're comfortable setting it up before you take it out.
