Big Agnes's Copper Spur UL4 delivers a large internal volume suitable for four people, twin entrances keep it relatively 'livable' all at under 2.5Kg.
Big Agnes says: Copper Spur tents have garnered a tremendous following and we’re proud to announce that they’re even lighter than before. These full-featured, ultralight backpacking shelters are truly easy to pack, set-up and inhabit.
Dual doors and steep, vertical walls make long trips with a smelly partner - or three - bearable and there’s enough internal space to ensure that windy, rainy afternoons spent playing dominos will be comfortable. Media pockets located above the sleeping area enable clean ear bud cord routing from phones or other devices.
We really like Big Agnes's Copper Spur series of tents because they are not much heavier than the Fly Creek but they are truly freestanding and you get a good head height which is maintained over a relatively wide area due to the cross pole arrangement.
The walls on the Copper Spur series are nearly vertical and there is a good mix of fabric and mesh on the inner tent - this give a good compromise between privacy, warmth and wind resistance - making it suitable for a wide range of conditions.
The Copper Spur UL 4 is a big tent and as such doesn't quite achieve the same vertical walls associated with the other Copper Spurs, but its a big tent that's also very lightweight so there have to be some compromises somewhere. External storm guying points at the business end give reassurance for windy conditions.
