The Stormchaser is a very spacious bivy bag that works really well in all conditions. Using the highly regarded X-Tex coating to help manage moisture this is a great piece of kit.
Lightwave says
The stormchaser can be considered either a small, solo tent or a large, deluxe bivi-bag.
Our Verdict
Lightwave's Stormchaser uses a combination of fabrics to create a high performing and durable bivy. Weighing in at just 522g and with very generous dimensions this is a really nice bivy to use. It uses the same fabric as the Sigma tents with the X-Tex coating which made them such a success in the first place. This fabric does an amazing job of managing moisture build up from condensation that has often been the main problem of bivy for years.
It is one of the most spacious bivy bags I've used (and i'm 6'3!) the hoop certainly creates more of a tent feeling. The space the hoop creates allows you to stay comfortable when the weather is at its worst and also makes it much more pleasant to use in milder conditions where you want it opened up with just the bug mesh for protection. The higher denier floor increases durability and means you worry less about where you want to pitch up for the night.
