Black Diamond's Spotlight Bivy is packed with great features and still comes in at low weight. The large zippered entry makes getting in and out of the bivy easy and the mesh panel keeps it airy whilst keeping insects out.
Black Diamond says:
The Black Diamond Spotlight bivy is designed for the gram-counting minimalist who values some added comfort, with a single DAC Featherlite® pole providing extra room over the head and shoulders. The Spotlight is constructed with high tenacity 30D poly fabric improved strength. It has a large zippered entry and a large mesh panel with an awning for excellent ventilation.
Black Diamond's Spotlight Bivy is a spacious and light-weight hooped bivy. Hooped bivys give you extra space and comfort over unhooped biviys as the material is kept above your head.
The Spotlight Bivy has a mesh inner as well as the highly breathable Nanoshield fabric outer so on pleasant nights out you can just have the mesh cover closed to keep insects at bay. The bivy has a long zip stretching a third or so along the length of the bag making it much easier to get in and out of as well as increasing ventilation options.
The DAC featherlite pole attaches to gromits within the bag itself. This is slightly more fiddly than passing the pole through a sleeve like with some other hooped bivys. There is also a further wire in the hood to give further structure to the bivy. There are 4 burly looking peg in points (4 pegs are included). The bivy is quite stable without pegging once a sleeping mat is inside but pegging out will help maintain the bivys shape.
There are various tie back loops to tidy away the Nanoshield opening and/or the mesh opening to make it easier to stargaze or sit up and cook whilst still in the bivy.
