The Nordisk Telemark 1 ULW is an ideal tent for solo backpacking as it's extremely light and small, yet spacious and very strong.

Nordisk says:

Very spacious 1 person tent with a surprisingly low weight. Despite striving for the lowest weight possible, there are no compromises on function nor comfort. Inner pocket for storage, ventilation through mechanical construction as well as mesh window, easy adjustable guy ropes, magnet closing and as the most unique feature, the corner poles can also be used to convert the door into a tarp.

Every gram counts when back packing and while many modern back packing tents tip the scales at less than 1000 grams, not all of them are practical to use in challenging weather. The Telemark 1 ULW is a spacious yet lightweight 1 man tent made from strong, lightweight carbon poles that can withstand wind speeds of up to 25.0 m/sec. What makes it unique is that it has a large vestibule for storage of gear and the whole tent can be erected in under 4 minutes with a little practice.

The Telemark 1 comes in 2 versions, the model featured here is the ultra lightweight (ULW) model, which weighs in at 756 grams (excluding pegs) and uses carbon poles. There is also a lightweight (LW) version that weighs in at 794 grams (excluding pegs) and uses aluminium poles. Depending on how important weight is to you, you could save yourself a few bob with the LW version.

The Telemark 1 comes in two versions, and the model featured here is the ultra-lightweight (ULW) model, which uses carbon poles. There is also a lightweight (LW) version that weighs in at 830g according to the manufacturers, costs £320, and uses aluminium poles. - See more at: http://www.livefortheoutdoors.com/Gear-Reviews/Search-Results/Tents/Nordisk-Telemark-1-ULW-2013/#sthash.QJRJDWTw.dpuf

Tested on my 1200 mile LEJOG and 3 Peaks wild camping walk

I camped rough in this tent for 60 nights between 17th February and 19th April 2019 while walking from Lands End to John O'Groats via Snowdon, Scafel Pike and Ben Nevis. I have given the tent 5 stars because most tents like this will have condensation issues and that's the compromise, a warm interior or a mesh one with the cold wind blowing through.
The tent was so quick and easy to put up that I often just put it up again during the day to dry it, while stopping for lunch which was needed anyway due to being wet from the rain. The foot end does suffer more than the rest of the inner with condensation but I just lay my windproof jacket over my sleeping bag to keep it dry and my sleeping bag does have a water resistant outer which helps keep the down dry. I found the tent was just big enough for this walk, I could get dressed and pack my rucksack inside the tent if it was raining and often cook in the porch.
The tent feels safe in strong winds and heavy rain, it was still standing with only 2 pegs in the ground one morning. It has less pegs than most tents which also saves weight. I have the Telemark 2 as well but it just felt to big for a trip of this length when every little bit of weight saved makes a difference. The inner is close to your face and feet if you're on a thick mat. The quality is good and its showing no signs of wear and I had no issues with it. I cannot think of a better tent to have taken on this trip, this time of year but if it was warmer I would take a tent with a mesh inner.

NORDISK TELEMARK 1 CARBON ULW SOLO TENT

I had the LW version for a 2 day trip to Dartmoor in early March. Disaster after disaster! The tent totally saturated my RAB Infinity 300 Hydrophobic down bag on the first night. There wasn't even any rain and I woke up shivering around 1am. The inside was soaking wet even though the doors were unzipped. The inside needs a lot more mesh. The second night was a rainy evening and thus I couldn't get my sleeping bag or inner tent dried out. Needless to say I packed the car and drove back to Kent seriously hacked off with soaking wet gear. Seriously flawed design and will now try a Laser Ultra.
