Engineered to meet the needs of professional alpinists, the 4-season MSR Advance Pro 2 tent features an ultralight construction and a small footprint for easier pitching on high-altitude ledges.

MSR says:

Its extreme-condition, single-wall design utilizes nearly indestructible Easton® Syclone™ Poles and reinforced guy-points. A unique pole sleeve allows the tent to be set up fast by one person standing in a single precarious spot—a critical advantage when space is precious in technical terrain. Proven in harsh environments like the Himalayas, the Advance Pro™ tent delivers reliable protection on aggressive summit assaults.

The MSR Advance Pro 2 Person Tent is a freestanding ultralight single-layer tent with an incredibly easy setup. It has a unique pole sleeve design so that it can be erected quickly by just one person standing in a single spot. Ideal for pitching on high-altitude ledges. (Watch the attached video to see a guy set it up while standing on a bucket!)

It's designed with part pole sleeves and part pole hooks for convenience and ease. It utilises Easton Syclone poles and reinforced guy-points to ensure a strong structure that will protect you from the elements.

The only downside to the tent that it's a little snug for 2 people. Indeed two alpinists will manage to squeeze inside but some may prefer it as a solo tent. But remember it's not designed for comfort; this is a tool to be used at high altitudes where it may be difficult to find a space for a tent.

Overall, the Advanced Pro 2 Tent is a lightweight yet sturdy option for camping in minimal spaces with harsh terrain and difficult weather conditions.

Brilliant - with just one drawback

For my fast and light solo overnights this tent is so nearly the perfect bit of kit. Super light, so quick to pitch and so spacious for one. Stability you really can rely on with near unbreakable composite poles you can't lose as they are hub connected. With the late great Ueli Stecks input everything you need and nothing you don't. The one downside (which is perfectly manageable with one user) is condensation. The fabric used by MSR simply isn't as good for transferring moisture as eVent or the carbon infused fabric used in Crux/Lightwave tents. With one person it's not major as you can avoid touching walls and mop up any drops with a cloth, with two it would be a major issue. Ironically I've found condensation to be at its worst in snowy winter conditions, don't be afraid to use this type of tent year round. I have to say I really rate this design but if MSR could switch fabric for future models they could have a future classic.
