Vaude's Hogan SUL 2P 3 season tent offers good stability, strength and internal space. At 1.3kg its a bit heavier than some but the internal space is good, the fabrics are more durable than the lightest tents and the internal space is enhanced with the rear side spokes making it a better choice than others of similar design.
Defies wind and weather! Our extremely lightweight 3-season tent with an inner-first construction for weight-conscious watching and mountaineers is extremely wind resistant and durable. In addition, both sides are siliconized for even better weather protection at a low weight. The tent is easy and fast to set up. Sufficient space for 2 people; an integrated pin at the foot of the tent creates additional height.
The high percentage of mesh in the inner tent and a fully adjustable ventilation opening create a pleasant microclimate. If you're on the road in warm and dry regions, you can use just the inner tent - it doesn't get any more comfortable and lightweight than this. To protect the environment, the textile primary materials feature resource conserving and eco-friendly manufacturing in accordance with the strict bluesign® standard.
Vaude's Hogan SUL 2P is a great tent, at just over 1.3kg its firmly in the ultralight category for two people, even though its heavier than some it offers a long inner tent, the length is 235cm, significantly longer than other tents in this category, and the fabrics are a slightly higher 'denier' than the lightest tents - this will give the tent a longer lifespan.
We really like the short upright struts at the back of the tent (Vaude invented these) because they not only increase the volume in that area but they also provide an extra guying point on each side of the tent rear. Similar design tents suffer in the wind because the back end gets squashed, it can be fixed using Grip Clips to fit extra guys but with the Hogan you don't need to.
The inner tent has a good mix of mesh and fabric so its a great compromise of being cool in the summer but warm enough in colder/windier weather. The porch is a good size so you can store gear, dogs etc.. Vaude is a premium brand which is clear from the quality of construction, the Hogan is a good design though some people prefer two entrances on their two person tents.
