Lightest, simplest way to go

Esbit fuel is the Marmite of the outdoor world... Me? I love them. Combined with a 4g multi positional stove, 6g pot stand, 11g windshield, 11g ground plate, the mug of your choice and you're away. Esbit does the job. It's no speed king, but I manage to boil 250ml +/- in around 7 minutes and can get two+ brews from 1 x 14g block. The trick is to have a windshield that has the right amount of airflow at the bottom as well as the top. Safer than an alcohol stove and reusable (carbon felt is pretty safe though). Some folk don't like them in freezing temperatures, but with all ultralight kit, adaptability is the key. A couple of drops from a small contact lens cleaner bottle with alcohol can help start them. I use a Soto jet flame. Reliable and speedy delivery from ULOG as usual and environmentally conscience packaging.

Didn't burn as long as promised and not as warm as thought

I tried the tablets for a first time in windy conditions and 10 - 15 °C, with the help of a little windshield. I was not able to get 500ml of water to boil with an Esbit stove kit before the tablet ran out. I tried the same with the alcohol stove and had boiling water within 10 minutes.
