Edelrid Cooking Technologies's Puncture Cartridge Adaptor converts a puncture type gas cartridge to be able to take a screw on stove. Handy piece of kit for when you don't know what type of gas will be available at your destination.

Edelrid Cooking Technologies says:

With this adapter you can use any manufacturer's screw on cartridge stove with puncture style cartridges widely available in Europe and many other parts of the world.

Puncture-style cartridge adapter. With this adapter, Edelrid stoves work with all commercially available puncture-type gas cartridges.

I've struggled in some parts of Europe to get the screw type gas cartridges, whereas the puncture style cartridges are available in most supermarkets in many mountainous areas, especially in the Alps and the Pyrenees.

On one trip I ended up buying a stove designed to use the puncture cartridges because that was all I could find, the stove weighed more than this adaptor and my screw in stove put together!

If you want the best chance of being able to get gas easily then carry one of these from Edelrid, think of it like your first aid kit; you may never need it, but if you did then you'll be bloody glad you carried it!

Works with most screw in gas stoves, however we have discovered that it doesn't work with the MSR Superfly stove, though it does work with the MSR Pocket Rocket and MSR Simmerlite stoves.

Caution about Warranty on Stoves.

Updating my last review my words still stand for use with a stove like the MSR Pocket Rocket but - "Use at your own risk" for other brands, speaking from an epic warranty battle. For the record, Optimus consider this adaptor to be voiding your warranty as they 'literally' see it as a rogue device. It was a long battle to get myself a replacement stove. Ultimately, and to be fair, nobody can say (or would want to admit) 'which' of the two products was the culprit, so again -"Use at your own risk"

Good for overseas travel, and a money saver.

It serves its purpose of giving peace of mind when you can't be 100% sure what form of Gas canister you'll find overseas, but for me the best aspect of this gadget is its use as a money saving device because my experience has been that the puncture style canisters are often 'considerably' cheaper to buy overseas than the screw top kind even when the later are available. For outings of months, in the long run this works out well., Awkward shape, but wrapped in padding it is ok in a pack.
